Rajasthan welcomes Winter with a foggy and chilly start

During the last 24 hours, northern parts of Rajasthan received widespread rainfall activities with a few moderate spells. These rains were due to the presence of a Cyclonic Circulation over North Rajasthan. A Trough was also extending from the Arabian Sea up to South of Rajasthan in the lower levels.

Currently, sufficient moisture is available in the region due to the presence of the Cyclonic Circulation. Winds are mainly light over the northern and central parts which are favourable for fog formation towards early morning hours.

Today morning dense fog engulfed many places in the northern parts of Rajasthan while shallow to moderate fog was observed in the southern districts. Zero visibility was reported from cities like Bikaner, Churu, Sikar and Alwar.

The visibility remained below 500 m in many parts while there was some better visibility in extreme Southwest Rajasthan. Cities like Jaisalmer, Barmer and Jalore remained fog-free.

Today, some places in Central and Northeast Rajasthan may observe a partly cloudy sky. While tomorrow onward mostly clear skies will be observed. Night temperatures will start dropping in the region. Single-digit temperatures may be observed in the northern parts of the state. Day temperature is also set to drop below normal in many places.

Now, the Cyclonic Circulation will soon move away and moderate northerly-northeasterly winds will start setting in over the region. Thus, we expect clearance of fog from the area in the coming 48 hours.
