The state of Rajasthan has remained dry for quite some time. While good rains were lashing the desert state a week before, Monsoon showers took a backseat a few days ago. So much so that the entire state had gone dry during this period.

However, rain gods decided to bestow some kindness over the state. In fact, the last 24 hours have been rainy for the state. Several cities have recorded good rains giving the residents that much needed relief from prevailing weather conditions.

During the last 21 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Bikaner recorded a good 21 mm of rainfall followed by 10 mm rain in Kota. Other areas to have received Monsoon rains include Sri Ganganagar, Churu, Jaipur, Ajmer and Jodhpur.

These rains can be attributed to the upper air cyclonic circulation which is presently over Saurashtra and the Kutch region. During the next 24 hours also Rajasthan will receive light to moderate Monsoon rains.

So far, Rajasthan has received 406.1 mm of rain against its normal 296 mm rainfall. Thus, the state is witnessing a rainfall surplus of a whopping 37 percent. Good rains over the state will only help in increasing the surplus figures.
