Tempo is on the rise for Rajasthan to have intense spell of rain during this week. Southern half of the state is more vulnerable to the swampy rains than the northern one. The rains will become heavier, as we go along the week. Intense spot rains are likely between 06th-08thJuly 2022. Spread of rains over the northern half will also increase from 06thJuly onward, but remain limited to mostly moderate or light.
A low pressure area has formed over Coastal Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. Also, there is a cyclonic circulation over North Arabian Sea. Axis of trough joining these two systems has an embedded circulation over South Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat. This convergence zone will remain active during the week over southern half of Rajasthan.
Moderate showers are likely over South and Southeast Rajasthan on 04th and 05thJuly. Spread and intensity will increase gradually and isolated spot heavy rainfall is expected between 06th-08thJuly. Scattered moderate rain and thundershowers will take place even subsequently on 09th& 10thJuly. Close on heels of this wet spell, state is heading for another massive downpour from 13thJuly onward.
Both, West and East Rajasthan were deficit till the 3rd week of June with respective shortfall of 48% and 56% respectively. Courtesy, good showers between 20th and 23rd June, both sub-divisions turned surplus. Thereafter, pre monsoon showers kept splashing the region and the excess rainfall was retained. Monsoon arrived nearly a week early and the weather activity has been continuing. As on 04thJuly, West and East Rajasthan have been surplus by 63% and 22% respectively. Eastern half of the state is also likely to catch up with the rest during the wet spell between 04th and 15th July2022.
