After slow start, Southwest Monsoon has picked up pace and has covered Jammu & Kashmir, parts of Uttrakhand and Himachal Pradesh along with most parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Now within 2-3 days Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and parts Southeast and Eastern Rajasthan is expected to get the long awaited Monsoon showers.
Good pre-Monsoon rain has been seen over Southeast and Eastern Rajasthan and conditions are now favorable for light to moderate rain over these regions. In the past 24 hours Bikaner received 16 mm of rain, whereas Ajmer received 20 mm of rainfall. Only traces of rainfall occurred over Jodhpur of around 2 mm of rain.
Skymet Weather expects that Monsoon will cover these areas a bit early this year. The usual onset date for Monsoon over East Rajasthan is July 1. But this year we expect that the Monsoon will slightly be early, maybe one or two days.
During next 24-48 hours, places like Kota, Bundi, Chittorgarh and Ajmer and some more parts of East Rajasthan may welcome Monsoon.
