Night temperatures over Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh have plunged by 4 to 9 degree Celsius in a span of 48 hours. However, the decrease in maximums is comparatively less, in the range of 3 to 4 degrees.

After the passage of the Western Disturbance on January 31, cold northerly and northwesterly winds were blowing over these areas and were instrumental for the significant drop in minimums. Now the minimums over Rajasthan are near normal and at few places a couple of degrees below normal.

Now the minimums over Rajasthan are near normal and at few places a couple of degrees below normal.
These cold northwesterly winds will continue to blow over the area for next 3 days. Both minimum and maximum are expected to fall further over North and Central Rajasthan and also over northern parts of Madhya Pradesh.

As we are in the month of February, normal temperatures are also on the higher side. Therefore, there will not be any winter chill but comfortable weather will continue for next 3 to 4 days. By February 5, winds from southwest will start blowing over Rajasthan as an induced cyclonic circulation is expected to develop, in wake of the approaching Western Disturbance. At that point of time, we could expect isolated rainfall activity over Northern parts of Rajasthan as well as North Madhya Pradesh. Minimums will rise by 4 to 5 degrees while day temperatures will remain unchanged.

In terms of crops, this rainfall will leave enough moisture in the soil but rise in temperatures will not beneficial for the crops.
