Gujarat and Rajasthan to keep witnessing Cold Wave conditions for now

Presently, a Western Disturbance is moving as an upper air system over Jammu and Kashmir. However, no significant system is present over the plains. North-northeasterly cool winds are prevailing over Rajasthan and Gujarat region which has intensified the cold wave condition over many parts of the states. A drop-in day and night temperatures have been observed over many parts of Gujarat. Severe cold wave conditions are prevailing in some parts of Rajasthan, and as of now we expect these cool winds to continue. The severity of the weather is expected to continue for the next 24 hours.

Gujarat will also continue to witness severe cold wave conditions in pockets and cold wave condition in many parts as the minimums being experienced over here are below normal by 3-5°C.

Rajasthan is also observing below normal temperatures (by 4-8°C) during morning hours and (by 2-3 °C) during day time. Mainly clear skies and cold winds will continue for now.

Such conditions in these areas often leads to the formation of ground frost which is harmful for crops.

As of now these conditions will continue to prevail over these states until some other weather system arrives. Soon, another Western Disturbance is expected to make an arrival by January 1. This might lead to a change in the continuing weather over these regions.
