Raipur, Seoni, Indore to witness good rains; Guna, Gwalior to remain dry

Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh received light to moderate intensity of rains in the past day and the intensity is likely to increase. A cyclonic circulation is persisting over Odisha which gave rain across the states.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Thursday, Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh received moderate rain of 38.2 mm, Mana 38 mm, Rajnandgaon 30.2 mm, Raipur 28.2 mm, Durg 27 mm, Ambikapur 20.2 mm and Pendra 14 mm. meanwhile, Jagdalpur witnessed light intensity rain of 10.5 mm.

In the same span of time, Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh witnessed moderate intensity rain of 20.2 mm, Khajuraho 16.3 mm and Seoni 12 mm. Umaria also received light rain of 2.3 mm. It is anticipated that the cyclonic circulation will induce into a Low-Pressure Area in next 24 hours. Moderate to heavy rains have occurred over many places of Chhattisgarh.

As per Skymet Weather, rain intensity is likely to increase over southern districts of Chhattisgarh for next 24 to 48 hours. Places like Sukma, Bijapur, Dantewada, and Bastar may receive heavy rains also during this period. The central parts of the state such as Kanker, Balod, Rajnandgaon, and Raipur may also receive light to moderate rains.

Gradually by August 21, rain belt will shift towards south Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra and rains will reduce over Chhattisgarh. Along with Chhattisgarh many parts of east and southeast Madhya Pradesh will also receive moderate to heavy rains. Places like Balghat, Seoni, Chindwara, Betul, and Dhindori may receive good spells of rain during next 24 to 48 hours.

Thereafter southwest Madhya Pradesh will also get good rains. Districts such as Khandwa, Dhar, and Indore may receive light to moderate rains. But northern districts of Madhya Pradesh such as Guna, Shivpuri and Gwalior will witness dry weather conditions, but isolated rains may occur.
