As predicted by Skymet Weather, last 24 hours saw heavy to very heavy rains over the Himalayan region, particularly Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. However, Jammu & Kashmir settled with light to moderate rains.
These rains occurred due to two main weather systems, one is the persisting Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and the other reason being the axis of Monsoon trough running close to the foothills of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Now, the Western Disturbance will gradually move away eastwards, so now we expect rains to reduce over the hills. Scattered light rains with few moderate spells will continue for the next couple of days. As well as, isolated places will receive heavy rains at the same time.
People who are planning for Vaishno Devi Shrine may face some discomfort due to rains.
The areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also prone to landslides and mudslides during this time of the year. So, it is risky to visit tourist destinations during the weekends. Although rains will not be very heavy, but it is advised to take some precautions while heading towards these destinations.
