rain in Odisha

The state of Odisha has been lucky enough to experience on and off rain and thundershower activities for quite some time now. Similarly, scattered light to moderate rains have been observed in many parts of Odisha, during the last 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours, from 8:30 am on Thursday, Bhubaneswar has recorded 4.7 mm of rainfall, followed by Puri 5.7 mm and Gopalpur 1.6 mm of rainfall.

According to Skymet Weather, with some prominent systems persisting close to Odisha, the state will observe rain and thundershowers with increased intensity now. The weather systems include a Cyclonic Circulation, which is over South Bangladesh and adjoining area and a Trough, which is extending from this system up to coastal Odisha.

Due to these systems, parts of Odisha will experience intensified rains, wherein light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells are expected overBhubaneswar,Balasore, Puri,Anguland Chandbali for next two to three days.

Usually, by this time, Monsoon reaches the state of Odisha, but due to the slow progress of Monsoon this time in South India, Monsoon arrival has been delayed over Odisha as well. However, with the rains making a frequent appearance, we expect, the residents would not have to wait much longer now to welcome the Southwest Monsoon 2019.

According to weathermen, due to increasing rains, Monsoon is expected to step in some parts of Odisha, particularly in southern and coastal areas, most probably in next two to three days. Until then on and off rains will continue over many parts of the state.

Moreover, during this period, sky would remain cloudy to overcast andtemperatures would also drop down by 2℃ to 4℃,thus leading to comfortable weather conditions.

However, the coastal areas have to go though high humidity levels, thus making the weather sultry during afternoon hours.
