Mumbai weather has remained dry and warm for quite some time now. It counterpart, Pune has also been witnessing similar weather conditions. While the maximums in Mumbai have been settling in the lower 30s, Pune was much hotter with maximums hovering in the late 30 degrees.

However, good news awaits the residents of both Mumbai and Pune. Rain gods have finally decided to bestow some kindness over the Mumbaikars and Punekars. Since the beginning of the Pre-Monsoon season, both Mumbai and Pune have remained parched with not even a single drop of rain.

The first spell of Pre-Monsoon showers is expected to make an appearance between May 6 and 8 over both the cities of Mumbai and Pune. Adjoining parts of Maharashtra will also witness some rainfall activity.

These weather conditions will be attributed to the formation of an upper air cyclonic circulation over Gujarat and adjoining North Coastal Maharashtra. Moisture incursion will take place from the Arabian Sea. Also, a trough in lower levels will extend from North Madhya Maharashtra to West Central Arabian Sea.

With this, North Konkan and Goa along with Madhya Maharashtra will receive good rains. Light to moderate showers will be observed over Mumbai and Pune. While the rains will not be widespread in nature, many parts will still receive some rains.

As far as temperatures are concerned, significant relief is not likely. However, both Mumbaikars and Punekars will enjoy the short-lived joy in the form of the first spell of first Pre-Monsoon rains.
