Rainy weekend ahead for Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand, landslide and cloud burst likely

Hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are all set to witness a prolonged spell of Monsoon rains this weekend. Few places in Himachal Pradesh have already recorded good rains, wherein in Dharamsala has recorded 51 mm of rains in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, followed by Mandi 22 mm. Meanwhile, rest of the places recorded light rains such as Tehri recorded 5 mm of rains, Manali 2 mm, and Shimla 1 mm.

According to Skymet Weather, a fresh Western Disturbance is marked over Jammu and Kashmir, which would be moving further east. Along with this, a low pressure area is also seen over Madhya Pradesh. With the combines effect of these weather systems, we can expect moderate rains with some heavy spells over South Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and South Uttarakhand.

The up coming spells would be a prolonged one an dis likely to stay till weekend. Few areas might see intense weather activities too.

With long weekend in offing, scores tourists are expected over the famous tourist destinations such as Dharamsala, Manali, Shimla, Nainital and Mussoorie. Tourists are advised to exercise caution as threat of landslide and cloud burst in the upper reaches looms large over the region.
