Rainy week to be seen over Northeast India

Northeast India has been seeing some good rainfall activities during the last couple of days. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, North Lakhimpur recorded 86 mm of rains, Pasighat 49 mm, Lengpui 71 mm, Dibrugarh 29 mm, and Imphal 25 mm.

Now also, rains are expected to be continuing over the region with increased intensity, particularly over Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. At present, the Monsoon trough is shifting to the foothills once again, akin to the second successive break in Monsoon. During such times, Northeast India sees good rains.

For the next 3-4 days, i.e. until August 26, heavy rains may be seen over Northeast India. Rains will reduce thereafter as cyclonic circulation will form over Northeast Bay 0f Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh but even then scattered rains may be seen.
