The state of Kerala is rain deficient at 30 percent, the reason being lesser Monsoon rains for the state in sight this year. However, for the past couple of days the state has been seeing on and off rains. Moreover, there have been some isolated moderate spells of rain in the last 24 hours.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Kannur saw 13 mm of rains, Alappuzha 14 mm, light rains of 2 mm at Kochi 2 mm, and Karipur at 1 mm.

While the normal rainfall for Kerala reduces during the month of September and around fag end of August, but it looks like the state of Kerala may see some rainfall activity in the coming days, which could be slightly more than the usual.

While these light to moderate rains are expected to continue, there may be an increase in these showers due to a formation of the system in the Bay of Bengal. Thus, revival of rains may result in some heavy showers over the state between August 27 and 30, which may even help in reducing the deficient figures to some extent.
