Good rains are going over Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Meghalaya though Northeastern states are the most rain deficient region of the country. Assam and Meghalaya region is rainfall deficient by 33% and NMMT (Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura) are rainfall deficient by 20%.
But now we expect rain intensity to increase over entire Northeast states. This is due to the cyclonic circulation which was over Assam and Meghalaya and has now moved over Manipur and adjoining areas. And another cyclonic circulation is over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south coastal Odisha.
Due to this cyclonic circulation, humid winds from Bay of Bengal are reaching up to Northeast India and enhancing the rainfall activity over the area.
The combined effect of these humid winds and cyclonic circulation over Northeast India will bring fairly widespread rain & thundershowers for another 2 to 3 days.
Few places may even receive heavy to very heavy spells but thereafter rain intensity will reduce but light to moderate rain will continue throughout the week.
The normal average rainfall is high for Northeast India that is why even the light to moderate rainfall seems good enough for the region.
