Updated at 02:45 PM: Thundershowers over several parts of Bangalore have resulted in a drop in temperatures. Pleasant weather conditions are now prevailing over the region.

So much so that the maximums have dropped to 31 degrees which is 4 degrees below yesterday's maximums.

These activities are likely to continue for another couple of hours. The possibility of another short spell during the evening hours cannot be ruled out as during Pre-Monsson season, due to available moisture, regeneration of clouds take place.

Published at 10:00 AM: Bangalore weather remained dry and hot throughout the month of April. So much so that the maximums remained above the normal levels throughout the month. However, the beginning of the month of May has been nothing but good news for the Bangaloreans.

The city has been observing on and off light thunderstorm activity during the first few days of May. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday while Bangalore recorded 2 mm of rain, 1.5 mm rainfall was also observed at the Bangalore Airport.

As compared to the month of April, temperatures have witnessed a drop. Presently, the maximum temperature in the silicon city of India is only two notches above the average levels settling at 35.5 degrees. Also, the maximum in Bangalore Airport has been recorded at 34.7 degree Celsius.

These rains can be attributed to the wind discontinuity which is currently seen across Interior Karnataka. This semi-permanent Pre-Monsoon feature will continue to persist over South Interior Karnataka with slight oscillation.

Now, during the next four to five days, patchy rain will continue over Bangalore. The intensity and spread will be more today and on May 7. Thunderstorm activity will reduce over Bangalore between May 8 and 10. However, few areas are likely to witness some thunderstorm activity.

After that, thunderstorm activity is expected to pick up once again around May 13 after a gap of two days. Thus, it is safe to say that May will not be as sizzling as April happened to be.
