Rainy Thursday morning for Delhi, more showers in offing

February 18, 2016 12:08 PM |

rain-in-delhi 2Delhiites today woke up to a rainy morning even as minimum temperatures settled at 15°C, four notches above normal.

Light rain started during the early hours of Thursday, with Palam Observatory in Delhi recording 1 mm of rain till 8:30 am today and Safdarjung 0.6 mm.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, sky will remain partly cloudy to cloudy throughout the day with chances of light patchy rain in the national capital.

In wake of the activity, the maximum temperature will witness slight drop and is likely to settle around 24°C or 25°C on Thursday.

Similar weather conditions will prevail on Friday but chances of rain over the city are very bleak.

However, light rain and thundershowers are likely to return over Delhi on February 20. This activity will be on account of the approaching Western Disturbance and its induced cyclonic circulation which will by then shift over Northwest Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR.

This is the second episode of rain after February 1 when the city had recorded very light rain. Though traces of rain were also observed at Palam Observatory on February 7 and February 13.

As per Skymet Weather, Delhi is still far behind its monthly normal average rainfall that stands at 22.1 mm for February. Even these fresh rains will not be of much help in attaining the figure.

Moreover after the passage of this spell, weather is likely to be dry for the entire month as no good weather system is likely to approach the city now onwards.
