Widespread moderate rain, accompanied with thundershowers, continued to lash several parts of Central and South India for the second consecutive day. The affected areas include East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, interior parts of Karnataka and Kerala.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, a trough of low pressure moving across Chhattisgarh to south Kerala is receiving moisture from Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea that has caused fairly widespread rain in last 24 hours.
Let’s have a look at the rainfall figures across the Central and South India in the span of last 24 hours till 8:30 am in morning today.
As per the latest forecast by Skymet, system will continue to give rain with varied intensity during the next 48 to 72 hours as well. Moreover, Tamil Nadu that has been witnessing a dry spell, will also see fairly widespread rain in next 24 hours.
We expect significant decrease in rain from April 15 onwards, as system will become less marked.
In wake of the recent rain activity, maximum temperatures which have been settling in high 30s, even crossing 40 degree mark, have dropped significantly and are settling in lower 30s.
