Rainy spells ahead for North IndiaLast weekend happened to be rainy for both the plains as well as the hills of North India. However, for the past few days, hot and humid weather conditions have been prevailing over the plains of North India. The hills of North India on the other hand have been witnessing on and off rains.

Now, multiple weather systems are expected to pound more rains over the hills as well as the plains of North India. Parts of Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir have begun to receive Monsoon rains.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Dehradun recorded a whopping 79 mm of rain followed by 65 mm rain in Sundernagar. Dharamsala recorded 98.8 mm of rainfall along with Shimla recording 64 mm rains. Other areas to have received rains include Patiala 4 mm, and Nainital 38.6 mm.

These rains can be attributed to the Western Disturbance which is over the Western Himalayas. During the next 24 hours also, moderate to heavy rains will be observed over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Also, two low pressure areas which are over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and over Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand will also enhance the rainfall activity over the plains. Due to the interaction of these weather systems, light to moderate rainfall is expected over West Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, Punjab and Haryana. Some areas can receive heavy rains as well.
