The rainy spell continuing for the last 3 days over the state of Assam will end soon. Today supposedly is the last day and the valley will have plenty of sunshine thereafter lasting for more than a week. The day temperatures will rise to go in mid 20’s and the minimum to drop by 4-5°C.

The state of Assam was devoid of rain completely till the first fortnight of January. Upper Assam has rained fairly well during the last 3-4 days. Assam still remains rain deficit by 41% as on 20th January 2021. Upper Assam is likely to have rain today as well but the western half of the state covering Guwahati, Golpara, Dhubri, Kokrajhar and Nalbari may remain cloudy with a bare chance of rain.

This rainy spell was in association with a cyclonic circulation over East Bangladesh and neighbourhood supported by the remnant of western disturbance moving across the Himalayan Range. The weather feature is weakening and shifting away from the region in the next 48 hours. The temperatures will return back to normal with pleasantly warm days ahead and the nights to turn chilly. Dry weather conditions without any interruption will prevail nearly for a week. Dense fog will make a comeback and most locations on the bank of the Brahmaputra like Jorhat, Tezpur, Rangia and Guwahati will experience nearly zero visibility condition in the morning hour.
