Chilly wintry weather and dense fog is the constant weather happening over most areas of East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and few areas of Jharkhand. Rain has not made any appearance over Gaya or Ranchi in the entire month of December. But weather patterns are hinting at a rainy change in this region as the New Year approaches.
At present a trough is extending from West Uttar Pradesh to West Bengal across Bihar. Even wind direction is hinting at a rainy weekend as easterly winds are blowing over the area. With the movement of these winds, the trough will intensify into a cyclonic circulation.
These southeasterly winds from Bay of Bengal will increase the moisture in the trough running over Bihar and Jharkhand and by December 31 or January 01 the cyclonic circulation over Bihar and Jharkhand will give scattered light rain.
Places like Ranchi in Jharkhand and Gaya in Bihar may receive scattered rain and thundershower activity in this period. Till then moderate to dense fog will persist over these states. Bihar especially will have more dense fog. Day temperatures will be below normal and after rainfall we expect fog intensity to reduce but minimum temperatures will register a drop of 2-3°C.
