Winters have finally set in completely in most parts of North India especially the hills of North India are witnessing a much chilly cold weather now. For travellers or pilgrims who enjoy the chilly weather and are hoping to start the New Year with the blessing of Vaishno Devi are requested to think twice before travelling.
Chances of rainfall are very much likely over the hills of Katra and Vaishno Devi on December 31 and on January 01, 2017. Along with Vaishno Devi, more areas of Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will witness rainfall activity with few areas witnessing snowfall.
At present an active Western Disturbance is seen over North Pakistan and Jammu & Kashmir. And another Western Disturbance which is feeble in nature and is moving away; the passage of this feeble system is allowing the weather activity to happen over the Northern hills of India.
The fresh and active approaching Western Disturbance will once again induce a cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab and North Rajasthan that may give rain over parts of North Punjab.
Due all these weather happenings cold-day conditions and dense fog can be expected around New Year over most areas of northern plains.
