Rainy days in the offing for Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal

The eastern parts of the country have seen some rainfall activities in the last few days, however, they have remained on the lower side only. In fact, the last 24 hours have also resulted in some light to moderate rains making an appearance over parts of Bihar, West Bengal and a few areas of Odisha.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Supaul saw 18 mm of rains, Dehri recorded 11 mm of rainfall, Keonjhargarh 8 mm, Midnapore 6 mm, Puri 3 mm. Moreover, very light rains were seen in parts of Patna, Gaya, Darbhanga, Burdwan, Bankura and even Jamshedpur in Jharkhand.

Now, the eastern end of the axis of Monsoon trough is likely to shift northwards towards foothills of the Himalayas during the next 24 hours or so. Along with this, an upper air trough is expected to develop and extend from Bihar to North Coastal Andhra Pradesh across Jharkhand and Odisha.

Due to presence of these systems, warm and moist winds from the Bay of Bengal are expected to affect the eastern parts of the country.

Therefore, moderate rainfall activity is expected to continue over the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha as well at least for the next four to five days.

Cities of Farbesganj, Kishanganj, Purulia, Kolkata, Ranchi, Patna, Jamshedpur, Gaya, Puri, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar may see good rains at least for the next 24 hours.
