The rainy saga of the state of Maharashtra is in no mood to end so early as the state has been constantly recording some really good rains for the last many days. It has rained on the past day as well wherein most pockets of the state, mainly the Konkan division received heavy to extremely heavy Monsoon showers.

The other three regions, namely, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, and Marathwada have also received some good Monsoon rains.

In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Thursday, Vengurla recorded gigantic three digit rainfall to the tune of 100 mm, Bramhapuri 68 mm, Nagpur 61 mm, Harnai 60 mm, Chandrapur 51 mm,   Aurangabad 45 mm, Satara 44 mm, Akola 32 mm, Yeotmal 27 mm, Parbhani 23 mm, Dahanu 21 mm, Kolhapur 20 mm, Mumbai’s Santa Cruz Observatory recorded 17 mm of rains and Colaba Observatory recorded 5 mm of rains, Ratnagiri 19 mm, Pune 5 mm and Nashik recorded 2 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, the offshore trough is still persisting from South Gujarat to North Kerala coast. Along with this, the cyclonic circulation is also persisting over North Interior Karnataka at mid-levels which is helping in the incursion of moisture over the state.

Apart from this, another weather system which is responsible for heavy rains over Vidarbha is the trough extending from Jharkhand to East Vidarbha.

As of now, we expect moderate showers with few heavy spells to continue over Konkan, mainly South Konkan and adjoining areas of Madhya Maharashtra for another two to three days. On the other hand, the rain intensity would be more over Vidarbha.

Madhya Maharashtra may receive scattered moderate rains meanwhile, parts of Marathwada would receive comparatively lesser but scattered rains. Hence, it can be said that for the next two to three days, almost entire Maharashtra is going to receive good Monsoon rains which will be a boost for the agriculture belt of the state.

At this stage, let us see the impact of this weather on the agriculture belt of Maharashtra:

Due to incessant rainfall over the Konkan region since last few days, farmers are suggested to complete the Paddy transplanting or sowing. Farmers are also advised to drain out excess water from the early sown crops.

Farmers are advised to complete the new plantation of Mango, Cashew nut, Arecanut, and Banana.  In Vidarbha, Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra, farmers can complete the sowing of Kharif crops. In early sown crops, take out weeding operations and apply a sufficient quantity of fertilizers.
