October is the 2nd rainiest month for Bengaluru, next to September. The month has a modest normal of 186.4mm rainfall. Southwest monsoon virtually ends during 3rd week of the month and the northeast monsoon takes over with in days, in the 4thweek. Rains are mostly moderate to light but frequented in nature. HAL observatory has recorded 75mm and city measured 51.5mm so far between 01stOct and 12thOct. More rains are expected over the next 10days.
Cyclonic circulation is marked over South Konkan & Goa and trough is extending southward across South Interior Karnataka. While, this circulation will drift away over the Arabian Sea, another cyclonic circulation is building up over coastal parts of Tamil Nadu and Southwest Bay of Bengal. This feature will also shift over interior parts of South Peninsula. Combined influence of these 2 systems will cause week long weather activity over the capital city and suburbs.
Moderate showers can be expected between 12th and 14th October. These showers will mostly turn light during 15th-17th October. Spread and intensity will increase again between 18th and 20th October. Over 100 mm rainfall is expected during this wet spell, with bigger share in the 2nd half of this period. Most of the weather activity is likely during evening and night. Maximum and minimum temperature will hover around 26°C and 20°C, respectively. Pleasant weather conditions with partly cloudy sky and slight nip in the air expected during night and early morning.
