Northeastern states have been reeling under dry weather conditions from a long time now. The initial days of the month did bring some rain to the lower levels and snow in the higher reaches of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
Thereafter, due to the absence of any significant weather system, the weather across Northeast India went on to become dry once again. So much so that since last many days, the temperatures at many parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have been settling 2 to 3 notches above the normal.
Most districts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have observed mercury settling at 30 degrees or above. In fact, the minimums are also relaxing in lower teens.
As per Skymet Weather, dry weather is expected to continue in the northeastern states until February 19. Henceforth, light rain and thundershowers are expected to show up in parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh breaking the monotonous chain of elongated dry spells from February 20 onwards.
These rains are likely to continue over the aforesaid regions till February 22. However, from February 21, entire northeastern states are foreseen to receive scattered rain and thundershowers.
Hence, it can be said that after being enveloped with dry spells, the next week is expected to commence on a rainy note. Moreover, due to the occurrence of these rainy spells, temperatures may also witness a marginal fall.
