Rainy days ahead for parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra courtesy well marked low

September 14, 2023 1:21 PM |

The states of Gujarat and Maharashtra are all set to see heavy rains between Sep 17 and 19. This is in association with the well marked low low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal which is expected to move inland soon.

The Circulation of the Low Pressure Area is shifting westward and when it comes over extreme western Madhya Pradesh and adjoining North Madhya Maharashtra, the system is likely to get revived because of the moisture incursion from the Arabian Sea with a southwesterly flow. The system may become more marked while over this region.

Thus, South Gujarat and Maharashtra will see rain. North Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Konkan and South Gujarat will be the ones seeing heavy rains. Moreover, heavy to very heavy rains are likely over North Konkan and South Gujarat between September 17 and 19.

For South Gujarat, cities right from Valsad, Vapi up to Surat and Bharuch will be the ones seeing heavy showers.

Peripherals of the system will spill over to other parts of Gujarat as well including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar etc. Similarly, other parts of Maharashtra including Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur, and Sholapur may get some rainfall activities. South Konkan region including Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and adjoining regions may also see some showers. These areas however will not see heavy showers.
