Rainy days ahead for Northeast India

Rains have once again revived over Northeast India. Since last many days, Monsoon was subdued over the region.

The last 24 hours have been heavy enough for some parts of Northeast India wherein rains over 50 mm have been recorded. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Pasighat saw 97 mm of rains, North Lakhimpur 78 mm, Dibrugarh 75 mm, Chaparmukh 10 mm, Kohima 7 mm, Dhubri 5 mm, and Silchar 1 mm.

Now, a Cyclonic Circulation is over eastern parts of Assam along with which, winds from Bay of Bengal are feeding moisture over the northeastern states.

Thus, moderate rains in many parts of Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh are expected during the next few days. Moreover, isolated heavy rains are also likely over some pockets.

Scattered light to moderate rains are expected over Nagaland and Manipur. On the other hand, Mizoram and Tripura may see light rains.

These rainfall activities will continue until September 12. Thereafter, rainfall intensity will reduce over the entire state.

Talking about statistical figures, all Northeastern states are deficient and not much improvement in these stats are expected in the coming days as well.
