The month of March has remained hot and dry for Delhi and the NCR region. So much so that the first five days of April have also remained dry for the national capital. It is the scorching heat which is at its peak currently over the city.
Yesterday, Safdarjung observatory recorded its maximum at 39 degrees Celsius which is the highest of the season. Palam also scorched at 40.1 degrees, which is the highest for the second time this season.
However, good news awaits the residents of Delhi NCR as weather conditions are all set to take a U turn. Currently, a cyclonic circulation is over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab and Haryana. Along with this, a feeble Western Disturbance is also over Jammu and Kashmir region. Due to the combined effect of these systems, an extended spell of rain and thunderstorm is likely over Delhi and the NCR region. Wind pattern is also expected to become southeasterly from the prevailing northwesterlies.

This weather activity is expected to begin tomorrow onward and continue until April 10. These rain and thunderstorms will usually occur during the late evening and night hours.
As far as the intensity and spread is concerned, the intensity will be on the lesser side between April 6 and 8. However, April 9 and 10 will see moderate showers making an appearance over the national capital. During this time, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad are likely to witness some weather activity. Dust storm, lightning and thunderstorm will be common during these days.
With this, temperatures are expected to witness a drop giving the residents some relief from the prevailing weather conditions. While they won’t drop significantly in the first three days, around April 9 and 10, they may even drop below the normal levels bringing in that much needed smile on the faces of Delhiites.
