Light rain commences over Bangalore
Light rainfall has finally commenced over Bangalore and its adjoining areas. The capital city of Karnataka has been receiving light rain since about 3:00 pm. As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, light rain is likely to continue over the city today.
These rains can be attributed to the trough of low which is currently over the Southwest Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lanka coast. Due to this system, the easterly wave has also activated giving rains over the region.
The city had remained dry for quite some time due to absence of any significant weather system. These rains have resulted in pleasant weather conditions over the city.
By Saturday, weather conditions will once again become dry and rains will take a backseat.
Light rains in store for Bangalore
Rain bearing clouds have been hovering over Bangalore since early morning hours, paving way for pleasant weather conditions. In wake of this, we can expect some rain and thundershowers to make an appearance over the city soon.
According to Skymet Weather, the trough of low is still prevailing over Southwest Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lanka coast. This system continues to strengthen the easterly wave over the region, which has significantly increased the level of moisture over the garden city.
Now, day maximums have also been increasing since morning and with moisture in atmosphere, we can expect the formation of convective clouds during the late afternoon hours over the city.
As a result, light rain and thundershowers may commence over the city during the late Friday afternoon or the evening hours.
Further, weather is likely to clear up by Saturday and mainly dry weather with partly cloudy sky will prevail over the city.
Rainy day likely for Bangalore tomorrow
Bangalore has not been lucky enough to observe some good showers in the month of January. Ever since the month began, good rains have remained absent from showing up in the city. However, few traces of rains were observed by the state capital on one or two occasions.
Bangalore witnessed a few light traces of rain on January 22 and then finally the city managed to witness some rainy spells during last 24 hours as well.
However, as per Skymet Weather, now, it seems that finally, the capital of Karnataka is up for some rains as a trough of low persists over Southwest Bay of Bengal off the Comorin coast. Furthermore, due to this, the easterly waves are also likely to get activated which will lead to increase in clouding.
In the wake of this weather system, Bangalore is expected to witness some scattered rains and thundershowers on January 27. These rains are likely to continue for 24 hours and thereafter, weather of the city will once again become dry.
As far as the weather conditions over Bangalore is concerned, nights in the capital city are warmer wherein mercury is nudging above the normal for the city. During the last 24 hours as well, mercury settled at 18.3°C which is 2 degrees above the normal.
