Delhi and its suburbs will have intermittent rain and showers today, with short breaks in between. One odd shower at some isolated places could be heavier for a small duration. Tomorrow, the intensity will reduce and the spread will shrink. However, light rain will continue, with small pauses, during the day. The mercury will remain in the comfort range, both during the day and night.

The depression over Madhya Pradesh has weakened to a well-marked low-pressure area. The cyclonic circulations extend up to mid-levels in the atmosphere. The system is centred over southern parts of central Uttar Pradesh and northern parts of central Madhya Pradesh. It is likely to move west-northwestward, weaken and position over southwest Uttar Pradesh and northwest Madhya Pradesh.

The western end of the monsoon trough is oscillating with the shifting track of the system. Yesterday, parts of NCR, more so Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Bulandshahar received sharp and intense showers in the evening. The activity sustained till the early part of the night. However, both the record observatories of Delhi, Safdarjung and Palam, did not receive any rainfall.

The proximity of the circulation of low-pressure and the vicinity of the monsoon trough will keep the monsoon activity, going for the next 48 hours. The weather conditions will improve from 20th September onward and remain good till the start of the next week, including the weekend. The capital city may find lingering light rainfall activity, next week as well, before the monsoon makes the last call of the season.
