Rainy Christmas for Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh

December 25, 2016 12:48 PM | Skymet Weather Team

It seems that Christmas remains merry and joyous for the residents in Chandigarh, as the city has been blessed with some good spell of rainfall from last night.

All thanks to the induced cyclonic circulation lying over the region, which have been pouring rains over the city on Christmas Eve.

Punjab and parts of Haryana also recorded some rain during the similar time period. Many areas of Uttarakhand are expected to witness good rain and snowfall during the next 24 hours as well.

Chandigarh was expected to remain dry this December with no further drop in temperatures. However, shallow to moderate fog has been recorded over the city since past few days. Also the city was seeing colder nights than Shimla.

Christmas and New Year is considered as the most wonderful time of the year. People from all over India visit the northern hills to make this festive vacation an outstanding one.

Not only have these rains, but the northern hills of India including Shimla, Manali also witnessed first snowfall of the season.

The reason for this snowfall can be attributed to the active Western Disturbance over the hills, which had remained feeble with no significant weather activity over the hills and plains.

But it seems that the weather gods has been extremely blissful on this Christmas at least over North India.
