It’s raining cats and dogs over Hyderabad since the last three days now. The city saw 89.7 mm of rains yesterday evening. Except for massive flash floods, these rains have lead to huge traffic disruptions and damage to roads.
However as had been forecast by Skymet, rains have already subsided starting today morning onward. We expect the rainfall activity to go further down from Sunday.
Just the three-day rainfall in the city had led to major disruption in Hyderabad’s cumulative rain figures. As on September 28, Hyderabad has turned from being 13% rainfall deficit to 15% rainfall surplus.
Looking at the rainfall stats for the state, so far Telangana has received surplus rainfall of six per cent. As per the figures available with Skymet, the state has received 790.8 mm of rainfall this Monsoon season, against the normal figure of 746.3 mm.
The reason for these rains was a Cyclonic Circulation which was persisting over Telangana for the last some days.
Now however, the system has moved away. No significant system is prevailing over the region at present. Thus, no significant rains are likely in Hyderabad for the next few days. However, some patchy rains might be witnessed. Weather will remain mainly comfortable.
Usually, during September, rainfall activity in Hyderabad starts to subside and the city experiences only light rainfall. However, this time it has been unusual as the city has been pounded with heavy rain right at the fag end of the month.
