As predicted by Skymet Weather, the rains finally reduced over the state of Maharashtra. In fact, rains have witnessed a significant reduction in their intensity over Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Madhya Maharashtra region. However, the Konkan division still continued to receive some scattered rains.
It is all due to the previous rainy sessions that all the four divisions of the state are at present rain surplus. As on July 18, Konkan & Goa is the most rain surplus region with 51% of excess rains, followed by Vidarbha with 41%, Madhya Maharashtra with 20% and finally Marathwada region that has not seen much of good rains with the rainfall surplus standing at 20%.
On the past day, Konkan, particularly, South Konkan region recorded some light to moderate with isolated heavy rains. Meanwhile, most parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada and interior parts of Madhya Maharashtra became more or less dry with some isolated showers remaining confined to South Madhya Maharashtra region, adjacent to South Konkan region.

In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Mahabaleshwar recorded the most rainfall of the day in the state at a whopping 90 mm, Dahanu was next with 56 mm of rains, Ratnagiri 26 mm, Vengurla 14 mm, Mumbai 13 mm, Kolhapur 11 mm, Harnai 10 mm, Bramhapuri 10 m, Alibag 6 mm, Pune 2 mm, Nashik 2 mm and Parbhani recorded 1 mm of rains.
As per Skymet Weather, now, rains would once again increase over Vidarbha and we expect light to moderate spells with one or two heavy showers to occur over the region. This would be under the influence of a fresh low-pressure area which is developing over west central Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast. The cyclonic circulation is also persisting over South Gujarat.
On the other hand, Konkan & Goa region, mainly South Konkan would continue to receive good rains but would remain subdued over most parts of Marathwada and many parts of Madhya Maharashtra. North Konkan region, including Mumbai, would receive isolated light spells.
At this stage, let us see the impact of this weather on the agriculture belt of Maharashtra:
Farmers are suggested to complete sowing of Kharif crops at an earliest. If sowing is delayed, crop growth and yield will be impacted. Open the channels in the field to drain out excess water from the field.

Farmers can also use crops specific recommended weedicides to control weeds. Complete fertilizer application in 30-40 days old Cotton, soybean, and Maize crop.
