Rains to witness a diminishing trend in Andhra, Odisha

Rain and thundershowers have been blessing Odisha and Andhra Pradesh from last few days. Along with some good rainy spells, a few moderate showers were also observed by coastal Andhra Pradesh. In fact, the last 24 hours were also rainy for both the states.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Rentachintala observed 27 mm of rains, Cuddappah 4.2 mm, Balasore 20 mm, Baripada and Koraput 3 mm each and Vishakhapatnam witnessed a few light showers.

On account of these rains, the maximums also curtailed down by a few degrees. These rains can be attributed to a trough that was running from Odisha to South Interior Karnataka across coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.

However, now this trough has shifted towards Vidarbha. In the wake of this, rains are likely to reduce over coastal Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Though humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are incurring moisture over these areas. Thus, the pre-Monsoon showers will keep continuing at isolated regions of the states for another 24-48 hours. Isolated short duration rains will still be observed by a few interior regions of the state.

Due to the reduction in rains, the temperatures that had witnessed a fall by 2-4°C at many places will now once again reach the near normal state.
