Rains to visit Tamil Nadu, Kerala, to reach Bangalore, Chennai soon

March 2, 2017 7:14 PM |

Rain in KeralaAfter remaining dry for quite a long time, rains are finally approaching Tamil Nadu and Kerala. At present, rains will be confined to southern parts of both the neighbouring states, increasing thereafter.

According to Skymet Weather, couple of weather systems have developed around the region that will lead to rain and thundershowers over the region.

A trough can be seen running along the West Coast from Konkan and Goa region up to Kerala. Meanwhile, another trough is extending from South Andaman Sea to Southwest Bay of Bengal.  In wake of these troughs, light rains are expected over south coastal parts of both the states.

As we progress further, both the systems will move inland and start affecting more areas of Kerala and Tamil Nadu in subsequent 24 hours. This time, rain belt will also include parts of South Interior Karnataka.

March 4 onwards, Bangalore and Chennai will also start recording rains. Intensity of rains will remain light only but the spell will be prolonged one. These showers will be patchy in nature and would continue for 2-4 days.

The approaching rainy spell may also hinder the upcoming second cricket test match between India and Australia that is scheduled to begin from Saturday. In fact, weathermen predict that rains are likely on all the five days of the match.
