Updated on April 6 at 3:00 pm: Pre-Monsoon rains have been occurring over the northeastern states from the beginning of the season. In fact, the month of April has begun on a great note in terms of rains. In view of pre Monsoon showers, the temperatures are not soaring high and the weather is comfortable during the days and pleasant at nights. [yuzo_related]

As per Skymet Weather, all the northeastern states recorded light to moderate rain and thundershower activities during the past day also. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Tezpur recorded rain to the tune of 24 mm, followed by Guwahati, Halflong and Chaparmukh at 10 mm each. In the same time frame, Lengpui and Goalpara recorded 5 mm rain each, Kohima 4 mm, Dibrugarh 2 mm and Pasighat 1 mm.

A cyclonic circulation is persisting over the eastern parts of Jharkhand and adjoining West Bengal. In fact, a trough is also extending up to Arunachal Pradesh. These weather systems were responsible for the good rains during the last 24 hours.

As per weathermen, on and off rains are expected to continue over Northeast India for the next few days. However, the intensity of showers may decrease during the next 24 hours.

Pre Monsoon activities will once again pick up the pace from April 8 onwards and are expected to continue until April 12. The reason for the increased rains would be attributed to the trough which is likely to form from Uttar Pradesh to Northeast India across Bihar and West Bengal.

As these are pre-Monsoon activities, therefore the rains would occur during the afternoon and evening hours. The weather during the night is likely to remain pleasant and comfortable during the day.
