Scattered light rains are being witnessed by Madhya Pradesh since the last two days. Places like Guna, Sagar, Satna, Rewa, Nowgong, and Khajuraho received very light rains in the past 24 hours from 8.30 am. In fact, the state of Chhattisgarh also received light rains in the past day.

A north-south trough is extending from Madhya Pradesh to South Tamil Nadu, which is responsible for these rains. The day temperatures of most parts of Madhya Pradesh have dropped significantly. The temperatures which were settling in the lower 30s have come down to mid-20s and lower 20s, leading to pleasant weather conditions.

Similarly, Chhattisgarh also witnessed a drop in day temperatures by two to three degree Celsius but the drop has not been as significant as Madhya Pradesh.

This trough has weakened now, and hence, the sky has become clear. Now, we do not expect any rainfall activity over both the state. As per weathermen, the sky has cleared up, therefore the day temperatures are likely to start rising up once again by four to five degree Celsius over Madhya Pradesh and by two to three degree Celsius over Chhattisgarh.

The next spell of rain is expected to commence over many parts of East and South Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh between February 11 and 13. The north-south trough will form once again and moisture incursion will take place from the Bay of Bengal.

Thus, during that time, places like Jabalpur, Seoni, Damoh, Sagar, Pachmarhi, Chindwara, Hoshangabad, Umaria and Betul in Madhya Pradesh and Raipur, Jagdalpur, Durg and Raigarh in Chhattisgarh may receive good rains.
