The national capital Delhi received good rains and thundershowers yesterday but these rains remained mainly patchy. During the last 24 hours, Palam recorded 16 mm of rains and various other parts of Delhi and NCR recorded moderate rains.
As of now, the axis of Monsoon Trough is still passing South of Delhi. That’s why winds are easterly, and humidity has already increased significantly in Delhi and NCR area including the northern plains of Northwest India.
Thus, we expect on and off rain and thundershower activities to continue over Delhi and NCR today as well. Many parts of Delhi and NCR might receive one or two short spells of rain. The temperatures will remain under control. The weather will remain cloudy and comfortable.
By July 28, we expect the axis of Monsoon Trough to move further South, leading to dry weather over Delhi and NCR between July 28 to 30. However, isolated rains cannot be ruled out during this period as well. Temperatures will start increasing. Sky will become partly cloudy. Weather will once again become warm and humid leading to increased discomfort.
After two days, the axis of Monsoon Trough will once again start moving northwards. We expect that by evening or night of July 30, Delhi and NCR will once again start receiving patchy rains. Sky will once again become cloudy to overcast, leading to a decrease in temperatures.
Between July 31 and August 3, we expect on and off rains and thundershower activities over Delhi -NCR. The weather will once again become comfortable. Warm and humid weather conditions will exit.
