Rains to reduce over Kerala, to increase around Diwali

The state of Kerala has been seeing rains of varied intensity for the past few days. Moreover, rains have been heavy as well on a few days. There have been systems in view of the Northeast Monsoon, which have developed in proximity of the state of Kerala.

In the last 24 hours as well, rainfall has been heavy in a few areas while light to moderate showers were seen in other parts.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Kannur saw a whopping 49 mm of rains, Kochi 28 mm, Thiruvananthapuram 37 mm, Kottayam 18 mm, Kozhikode 26 mm, along with Punalur and Alappuzha at 2 mm each.

At present, an upper air trough is extending from Maldives to South Konkan and Goa across the state of Kerala. Therefore, during the next 28 hours or so, light to moderate rains are expected.

Thereafter, weather is expected to become dry as this system would be weakening, rains will decrease on November 5 and 6. However, as another system will affect November 7 onward, rains will start increasing from South Kerala. On November 8, rains will become moderate over the entire state.
