During the past 24 hours, moderate to heavy rains have been witnessed by North Konkan as well as North Madhya Maharashtra.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Thane recorded 31 mm of rainfall, followed by Mahabaleshwar 26 mm, Dahanu 15 mm, Vengurla 13 mm, Satara 9 mm, Ratnagiri 9 mm, Kolhapur 9 mm, Bhira 9 mm, Mumbai 9 mm, Harnai 7 mm, Pune 6 mm, Alibag 5 mm, Nashik 3 mm and Gondia 2 mm of rain.

These Monsoon rains can be attributed to the well-marked low pressure area which was persisting over North Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining areas. As this weather system has moved westwards, rains have significantly decreased over most districts of the state.

Moreover, the axis of Monsoon trough has also shifted towards the north; hence weathermen at Skymet Weather expect rains to further reduce over Maharashtra. Due to this, dry weather will make a comeback over Vidarbha, Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra during the next two to three days.

However, scattered Monsoon rains will continue over Konkan and Goa and adjacent areas of Madhya Maharashtra.

With such weather conditions, the day maximums may range around 30-33 degrees, whereas minimum temperature may settle near 21-25 degrees.
