Rains to reduce in Gujarat as Depression weakens, moderate showers likely in Ahmedabad and Vadodara today

After experiencing heavy to very heavy rain, the intensity has reduced in many parts of Gujarat. Cities of Vadodara, Ahmedabad and adjoining areas have received moderate rains only with one or two heavy spells during the last 24 hours.

Deesa has recorded 72 mm of rainfall, Ahmedabad 17 mm, Mahua 26 mm, Keshod 19 mm, Porbandar 10 mm, Rajkot 5 mm, Surendranagar 6 mm, Amreli 4 mm and Surat 3 mm in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday.

According to the Weathermen, the rainfall activities would taper down further in the state as the Depression has weakened into a Well Marked Low-Pressure Area and has further moved in the northeast direction, away from Gujarat.

However, the remnants of the system would continue to give moderate rain in parts of the Gujarat region such as Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, Banaskantha and many other eastern districts for the next 24 hours.

By tomorrow, a significant reduction is likely in rainfall activities and heavy rains are not expected to return anytime soon. Hence, the threat flood is ruled out.

With rains slowing down now, it is safe to say that this was the last heavy spell in Gujarat for this Monsoon season.

Skymet had already predicted in the third week of September that Gujarat may see good rainfall activities during the first two days of Navaratri. Thereafter, the weather would start clearing up and the situation has exactly been the same.

As no heavy showers are likely now, the remaining days of Navaratri would be spent smoothly with isolated light rains only.
