After affecting approx. 22 lakhs and killing 15, the heavy Monsoon rains in the northeastern states of the country have finally taken a backseat. Though light intensity showers have not stopped from occurring over Northeast India.
Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh were reeling under heavy to very heavy rains from last four to five days leading to incidents of flash floods and in several districts of Assam. While the relief and rescue mission across the seven sister’s state is still on, another sigh of relief as per Skymet Weather prediction states the fading of the possibility of any further heavy showers.
As per Skymet Weather, Southwest Monsoon has become almost subdued over most parts of the northeastern states. However, isolated moderate showers are going on over the eastern parts of Arunachal Pradesh and at a few areas of NMMT (Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura) region.

However, as the humidity level across Northeast India is high, therefore, scattered rains are expected to continue over many parts of Northeast India. Particularly, the regions such as Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh will receive light to moderate showers but the overall intensity of rain will remain subdued. Heavy showers are ruled out and so is the possibility of more flash floods in the region.
In fact, these subdued rains will facilitate the ongoing relief and rescue operation in the flood affected regions of Assam.
