Northeast Monsoon has been subdued over Peninsular India ever since its delayed onset on October 30. Though October was mainly dry, November witnessed few good spells of rains during the first week. This was in wake of Cyclone Kyant, which has given rain in its transit from southcentral Bay of Bengal to Andhra Pradesh coast.
Since then, only scattered light rains have been going on over southern parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. As a result, all the states are rain deficient.
Now, a fresh cyclonic circulation has developed in Bay of Bengal. It is presently seen over central parts of South Bay of Bengal, moving westwards. However, the system is not likely to intensify.
With this, we can expect scattered light to moderate rains to commence over several parts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai on November 13 and 14.
Scattered rains are also likely over Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and South Interior Karnataka on November 14. By November 15, rains will once again decrease significantly over Tamil Nadu but Kerala, Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka will continue with light to moderate rains.
Thereafter, weather will once again go dry but isolated showers will continue for another 24 hours over parts of Karnataka.
Thus, we can say that not much rains are in offing for South India during the month of November as well.
