Rains to pick up pace over Madhya Pradesh soon

August 15, 2017 6:00 PM | Skymet Weather Team

From the beginning of the month of August, the state of Madhya Pradesh has been witnessing good rains. However since last many days the region remained dry with isolated light spells.

The last 24 hours were also no different and the state remained almost dry. Only one or two districts recorded light rains.

The reason could be attributed to the absence of any significant weather system over the region. Also, the axis of Monsoon trough is running along the foothills of Himalayas.

As of now, both western as well as eastern districts of Madhya Pradesh are rain deficient by 19% and 20%, respectively.

Weathermen at Skymet Weather do not expect moderate to heavy showers over the entire state as of now. However, by August 17, rain and thundershowers are likely to pick up pace over East Madhya Pradesh and by August 19, the entire state will be witnessing light to moderate showers.

Around August 20 and 21, some western districts will witness light to moderate rains, whereas the eastern parts will once again go dry. The reason for this spell of good rain will be the westward movement of a cyclonic circulation from Odisha to Madhya Pradesh across Chhattisgarh.
