Good rains have been lashing the West Coast for the past few days and have picked up pace in the last two to three days. Areas particularly Kerala and Coastal Karnataka have observed light to moderate showers during this period. In fact, during the last 24 hours, traces of rain have also been observed over Bangalore.

This year, during the month of March and April, Pre-Monsoon rains were less over the West Coast, Being an El-Nino year, Pre-Monsoon showers were scanty over the country with the West Coast not being an exception.
These current showers have resulted in the drop in temperatures. Good rains are expected to lash Kerala during the next 24 hours. Also, rainfall activity is expected to increase over the Maharashtra coast. On and off rains have already occurred over the coast of Maharashtra with other parts of the state remaining dry.
Monsoon like rains have already commenced over Kerala and around June 2 and 3, coastal and interior stations of both Maharashtra and Karnataka will receive good rainfall.
