The last 24 hours were not very different and Kolkata did record a few heavy spells during this time-period as well. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Alipore observatory in Kolkata recorded a whopping 45 mm of rainfall.

These rains have been attributed to the presence of a depression which is currently lying over Southeast Jharkhand and adjoining North Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. The weather system is expected to move in a north-northeastward direction towards Northeast India.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, the city of Kolkata is expected to witness light to moderate showers today. However, rainfall activities are expected to witness a reduction thereafter as the system is likely to move away.

Thus, after 24 hours, dry weather will take over and Kolkata rains will take a backseat. However, temperatures will remain on the pleasant side at least for some time.
