Reeling under hot and humid weather since the last week of August, Delhi is likely to witness some respite against the inclement weather before Southwest Monsoon bids adieu to the national capital. Monsoon rains are slated to make a comeback and push the withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon away from its normal withdrawal date of September 20 from Delhi and other adjoining areas of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Cloudy days and intermittent rain is likely towards the weekend in Delhi. Depression present over Chhattisgarh will move towards South Gujarat in next two days. This weather system in tandem with a Western Disturbance is likely to give rain over Delhi for a couple of days.
While the withdrawal of Monsoon from West Rajasthan started on September 4, the system has been stuck over Amritsar, Hisar, Ajmer and Barmer since September 8. Due to the rains, withdrawal is now expected to stay put in Delhi till the last week of September.
According to data available with Skymet, Southwest Monsoon has displayed different shades of withdrawal from Delhi where withdrawal has sometimes taken place in October as against the normal of September 20. While last year, the withdrawal commenced only during the second half of September and withdrawal from Delhi was pushed to 1st October, in 2013 Monsoon stagnated for a longer time and withdrawal from Delhi took place on 17th October, after more than a month of its withdrawal from West Rajasthan.
