rain in Hyderabad

Good rainfall has been reported over most parts of South India for the last 24 hours. While Andhra Pradesh and Adjoining Telangana received light rains at scattered places, one or two places over Kerala and adjoining Karnataka received good rains.

Going by the data, Bengaluru received 4 mm rains, Valparai 1 mm, Rentachintala 2 mm and Khammam received 22 mm rains during the last 24 hours.

The reason for these rains can be traced back to an upper air trough which is extending from Vidarbha to the southern tip of Tamil Nadu. Also, southerly and southeasterly winds are affecting most places in the Southern Peninsula.

As both these weather systems are yet prevailing, more rains are likely over South India in the coming 24 hours as well. As per the forecast generated by Skymet, the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka will continue to receive light to moderate rains in the coming 18 to 24 hours. Rains are very likely to be accompanied with strong winds. Meanwhile, North Interior Karnataka will remain mostly dry.

These rains can be seen affecting major cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Vishakhapatnam and Chennai.

Following this rain episode, the intensity of rains is likely to come down significantly. Yet, one or two places might continue receiving patchy rains.
