Rains to lash Himachal, Uttarakhand more before reducing

The hilly states of North India have been witnessing good rains from the last many days. In fact, good rains have not spared the northern hills of the country almost entire August month, especially the states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

From recording very light spells to heavy and extremely heavy three-digit showers, both Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have seen it all. In the last 24 hours also, the hills have recorded good rains wherein Haridwar even recorded some whopping extremely heavy showers of 127.2 mm.

The other districts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh that have recorded some good showers include Nainital that recorded 88.5 mm of rains, Dehradun 43 mm, Mussorrie 42 mm, Tehri 35 mm, Shimla 33 mm, Una 24 mm, Manali 18 mm, and Dharamsala witnessed light spells of 11 mm.

As per Skymet Weather, the Western Disturbance as an upper air system persist over North Jammu & Kashmir and the axis of Monsoon trough is passing close to the foothills. Due to these two weather systems, rainfall activity will continue in many parts of Uttarakhand with moderate rainfall activity over Himachal Pradesh as well.

Rains will continue over both Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh for the next 24 hours and will gradually reduce thereafter.
