Rains to lash Delhi today, no disruption to Holi festivities

March 10, 2020 10:52 AM |

National capital Delhi is soon going to receive rains. As per forecasters at Skymet, a fresh Western Disturbance will approach the Western Himalayas by the evening or night today. Under the influence of this system, Delhi might receive good rains starting today evening. As good as it may sound, these rains will hardly have an impact over the ongoing Holi celebrations as no disturbance is likely to the festival in the day. These rains are likely to continue until the early morning of March 11.

But soon after, yet another spell of rains is likely to affect the region beginning March 14. These rains will continue until March 15. Meanwhile, the day and night temperatures will also remain below normal until March 16.

Looking at the rain data for Delhi, the month of March is turning out to be good for the city in terms of rain. If we look at the cumulative rains for the month of March, then until now, Delhi has managed to receive a total of 59.4 mm of rain. This is the second-highest rainfall the city has received in the month of March until now.

Earlier, in 2015, a total of 97.4 mm rains were witnessed in the month of March which is also the all-time record for March rains in Delhi.

There are chances for the city to surpass its all-time record of rains for March due to the upcoming rains.
